Raw Materials for Lithium-ion Battery Cathodes

We offer a full range of raw materials (oxides, sulfates and hydroxides etc.) for the lithium, cobalt, manganese and nickel used in cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LCO: lithium cobalt oxide, NCA: lithium nickel oxide, LMO: lithium manganese oxide, and NCM: ternary type materials (nickel, cobalt, manganese) etc.) as well as precursors for these cathode materials.

We offer a full range of metallic materials (pure nickel foil, aluminum foil, clad metal foil and copper foil) for use in secondary batteries, and are able to suggest various sizes and grades of quality. Particularly with regard to electrode materials, we offer a full assortment of cylindrical, square-shaped, and also ultrathin and micro-fine materials for use in polymer batteries.

Pure nickel foil Anode materials For anodes, pure nickel—with its low electrical resistance and its superior corrosion resistance and workability—is used.
Iwatani utilizes its processing capabilities to offer anode materials of a variety of widths and thicknesses.
Clad metal foil Anode materials Clad metal foil is also used in anode materials.
It has high conductivity and contributes to the improving battery performance, such as in achieving high battery capacity.

Aluminum foil Cathode current collectors For cathode current collectors, aluminum— with its superior corrosion resistance and conductivity—is used.

Laminated Aluminum Film

Laminated aluminum film is a composite material made from aluminum foil and resin film, used as packing material (pouches) for LiB.
Because pouches give a higher degree of freedom in molding, are more lightweight and have superior heat dissipation in comparison to metal can-type packing, they are frequently adopted as packing for LiB in smart devices such as smartphones and tablets.
In the future, it is predicted that they will also be adopted for large-scale LiB used in cars and electrical storage cells.
